When it comes to installing electronic business processes, most small to medium-sized companies neither have their own IT departments to call in for assistance nor, generally speaking, do their funds run to commissioning external IT service providers. Thus, Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie – BMWi) supports companies wanting to introduce modern information and communication technologies in an intelligent way with ‘Mittelstand Digital’, an initiative for digitalisation in small to medium-sized companies.
The BMWi will present this nationwide initiative at M-Days, Germany’s biggest trade fair for the mobile business in Frankfurt am Main on 13 and 14 May. At the ‘Mittelstand Digital’ lecture area, there will be four specialist forums on the subjects of ‘M-commerce’, ‘Mobile business processes in the installation trade’, ‘Mobile Industry 4.0 – applications for small to medium-sized companies’ and ‘Usability of mobile information and communication applications’.
In addition to the lecture area, trade visitors will have the chance to examine the initiative’s 29 research projects, which show how electronic business processes can be implemented and standardised. Moreover, entrepreneurs can discover how to improve the quality and utility of the business software used. “The initiative aims to create reference projects, the solutions of which are exemplary. Hopefully, they will encourage other companies to emulate and support them with a broad spectrum of experience and knowledge. At M-Days, trade visitors can obtain insights into future technologies and solutions, and make direct contacts to the appropriate experts. Additionally, they will be able to find out about the transfer work of the e-business pilots who support small companies and artisans throughout Germany”, says Dr Franz Büllingen, Head of the Communication and Innovation Department of the ‘Wissenschaftliches Institut für Infrastruktur und Kommunikationsdienste GmbH’, the company running the initiative on behalf of BMWi.
German Digital Business Federation spotlights mobile relevance
As Specialist Partner, the German Digital Business Federation (Bundesverband Digitale Wirtschaft – BVDW) supports the five core sections of M-Days – Mobile Strategy, Mobile Commerce, Mobile Enterprise, Mobile Marketing and Mobile Media – with its ‘Do Mobile! Germany Uses the Mobile Internet!’ initiative. “At present, 40 percent of Germans already own smartphones and tablets and use them to access the internet regularly. Therefore, BVDW also wants to draw attention to the rapid development and enormous significance of the mobile internet with its ‘Do Mobile’ initiative during M-Days, and promote an even higher degree of acceptance and relevance for mobile solutions”, says BVDW Director Tanja Feller.
On the first day of the fair, BVDW representatives will review the latest trends in the mobile sector in a panel discussion entitled, ‘Do It Right – Do Mobile!’ One of the focal points will be corporate strategies because companies, especially their customer-oriented departments, i.e., marketing, sales and customer services, will have to take into account their customers’ growing use of the mobile internet. In the ‘Speakers Area’ of the BVDW exhibition stand, experts will advise visitors individually about business requirements in relation to the mobile internet on both days of the fair.
Email-Expo will be held concurrently with the 9th M-Days. This established forum and trade fair offers focused information about email marketing and related disciplines. Further information at www.email-expo.de.
