In its third year Global Exhibitions Day (#GED18) will take place on June 6. It is the largest awareness campaign for the exhibition and events industry and aims to highlight the impact of the sector on economic growth in cities, regions and countries. UFI, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry, is pushing activities to put the global economic benefits but also the career opportunities in this industry center stage.
One of the key aims of this year’s campaign is to focus on finding new ways to connect young people to the exhibition industry and, more specifically, to raise awareness for the excellent career opportunities the sector has to offer. To this end, this year’s GED events and programs will focus on two key topics: industry advocacy and attracting the right talent.
Last year’s campaign and initiatives spanned 67 countries and regions around the world with support from 41 industry associations. To continue this success, UFI is promoting various initiatives such as “Follow me” videos for which UFI has invited members to create films that showcase specific jobs and roles or introduce professionals in the industry. The goal is to demonstrate the variety and richness of a career in the exhibitions sector. The videos can be watched at www.ufi.tv.
Further activities can be found at www.globalexhibitionsday.org – which is also the place where members can share their activities. Anyone interested can go there and find out what is happening in their region.
